IT Services Website Templates

A website template is a tool that will allow a developer to adopt the look and feel for a website without having to understand the mechanics behind the graphics, layout and style.

Domains

Different templates are available for each of our domains.

www.CUDenver.edu
If you are developing web pages on cudenver.edu within the MOSS (Microsoft's Office Sharepoint Server) system, please call Carol Martin in the ATEL department (303-556-6505) for assistance with templates.

If you have a site on the Thunder server you can use any sort of templates you wish. We do not currently offer any officially supported templates for Thunder at this time, but we would allow the use of the Blue Steel template that was originally designed for UCD.

www.administration.ucdenver.edu
The new consolidated site uses Dreamweaver Templates to control content, but unlike the other sites we do not allow people to access the templates themselves. The templates are built into the server and can be accessed by authorized Contribute users. Anyone with a site on administration.ucdenver.edu uses Contribute to create and update their pages.

www.UCHSC.edu
The UC Denver domain has two web servers, one unix and one windows. The windows server was created to support those that historically had needed Frontpage, though we strongly discourage the use of Frontpage now as it is being phased out.

The windows server also has a great deal of protected content that can only be seen by the UCD community once they use the Active Directory accounts to authenticate. The windows server cannot support the Blue Steel template at this time because it does not have PHP support.

The Template

Right now we only offer a single supported installable template. We may add more in the future.

Blue Steel
Blue Steel TemplateThe Blue Steel template was originally designed for UCD and referred to as "Look 3". The name was changed to distinguish it from another template with a similar name. Blue steel is the most current template and it requires PHP in order to include a centralized menu.
