HSC Virtual Private Network
VPN access is limited to ONLY Faculty and Staff. This is primarily due to the vulnerabilities of the campus core network and the restriction guidelines for HIPAA regulations and our need to safeguard intellectual property, PHI, and sensitive university data.
Your computer must meet certain requirements before we will approve and support your VPN connection.
The operating systems that we currently support include:
- Windows 98, 2000, or XP Professional (Windows ME and XP Home edition do not function properly on an enterprise network)
- Macintosh users will need Mac OS 8.1 or higher (with Open Transport 1.3 or higher)
All users accessing the HSC network via VPN must have three software elements installed on their computers:
- a VPN client
- antivirus software
- personal firewall
Once your HSC VPN application has been processed, you will be provided with configuration instructions for the VPN, anti-virus, and firewall applications.
